Information for Freshmen & Parents: Welcome Class of 2018!!!

As you may know, Bakersfield High School participates in the nationwide Link Crew Program, an organization whose sole purpose is to help freshmen feel more comfortable as well as help them achieve success in their first year of high school. The Link Crew Program is designed to both welcome and support freshmen by assigning them a junior or senior Link Leader as a mentor during this first year.   This Link Leader is a responsible older student who was nominated and hand selected by our staff, and who serve as positive leaders on our campus. Link Leaders also attend leadership training over the summer and continue this training every month in order to better serve their freshmen “crew.” Link Leaders are encouraged to talk or meet with each of their ten assigned freshmen once per month either by phone or in person at school.  Each month your freshman student may receive an in-class visit or phone call with important information such as:
  • How to get more involved on campus
  • Upcoming events and activities available to freshmen only
  • What resources are available such as after school tutoring
  • Answering questions about school and how to be successful at BHS
We are very excited to work with incoming freshmen students and look forward to making their freshmen year an enjoyable one!  If your freshman student was unable to attend the Freshmen Orientation during the summer and you would still like your child to be involved in this program, please contact Anna Lovan in the Student Activities Office at 324-9841, ext. 71046, or via e-mail at: anna_lovan@khsd.k12.ca.us. GO DRILLERS!!!
