8/16—Howdy Hop Dance, 8-10:30pm on Morrow Field, $5

8/17—First Annual Driller Round Up Event, 6-8pm in Elm Grove, Free




  • Calling all Drillers!!! Come to the first and biggest dance of the year! Howdy Hop is TONIGHT from 8:00-10:30pm on Morrow Field behind the stadium.  The cost is only $5 at the door.  BHS students only and you must show your ID card, schedule, or synergy app.  Show your spirit and dress up western style!


  • Driller Fans everywhere—come to the first annual Driller Round Up event being held this Saturday, August 17th from 6-8pm in Elm Grove. This is a family friendly event and all staff, students, and Driller families are welcome.  And the best part is this event is free!!!  Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and come on out to our kickoff party of this year’s football season.  Meet our new football coach, Coach Stewart!  No food and drinks will be allowed in but there will be food and drinks available for sale at the event.


  • Attention all Freshmen! Picture Day is next Tuesday August 20th all day in Harvey Auditorium. Pictures will be taken during your English class. These pictures will be used for the yearbook. If you would like to order pictures, bring your order form and money with you next Tuesday. For any sophomores or juniors who missed picture day last spring, you may take a make up picture on Tuesday--just report to Harvey at the beginning of any class period.


  • Attention Freshmen! If you are interested in running for Student Council to be a freshman class officer, come to the election meeting next Thursday, August 22nd during 4th lunch in the SAB.


  • Don’t forget to order your copy of the 2019-2020 yearbook at its lowest price of the year!! Yearbooks are $75 until September 13th! Pre-order your copy now in the finance office during lunch only or online at


  • Buy your ASB sticker and get in free to ALL athletic events for the year! That’s right!  For one low price of only $20 you can get in free with an ASB sticker to all sporting events at all Kern High schools. ASB stickers can be purchased in the finance office during lunch.


  • Seniors! Are you interested in getting college level composition out of the way? In high school!? Are you planning to attend a CSU or BC? Have you not passed the AP English Comp test? Are you in an ERWC or AP English 12 class this year? Then have we got an opportunity for you! Bakersfield College will be offering a concurrent enrollment English B1A course at West High on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:10-5:35 pm, beginning August 27. This is a GREAT opportunity to get one of your main college graduation requirements out of the way! Contact your counselor for more info!
