  • Hey Volleyball Fans! Come out to the first home volleyball game of the season tonight in the gym!  Support our girls volleyball team! Frosh Soph is at 4, JV is at 5:15, and Varsity plays at 6:30!


  • Attention Freshmen! If you are interested in running for Student Council to be a freshman class officer, come to the election meeting today during 4th lunch in the SAB.


  • Calling all Seniors!!! Come out to Senior Sunrise tomorrow in the stadium from 6:30-7:30am. Watch the sun rise over Griffith stadium and enjoy donuts with your friends.


  • All girls interested in playing basketball this year go see Coach Shehee in SH 9 today!!!


  • Don’t forget to order your copy of the 2019-2020 yearbook at its lowest price of the year!! Yearbooks are $75 until September 13th! Pre-order your copy now in the finance office during lunch only or online at


  • Buy your ASB sticker and get in free to ALL athletic events for the year! That’s right!  For one low price of only $20 you can get in free with an ASB sticker to all sporting events at all Kern High schools. ASB stickers can be purchased in the finance office during lunch.


  • After School Tutoring begins next week! Where? In the Library. What time? From 3-4pm. English and Math tutoring is available Monday through Thursday, Science is available on Tuesday and Thursday, and Foreign Language is available on Thursday. Beyond tutoring, the library will be open until 5pm Monday through Thursday - just so you have a space to do your work. See you next week!


  • Seniors! Are you interested in getting college level composition out of the way? In high school!? Are you planning to attend a CSU or BC? Have you not passed the AP English Comp test? Are you in an ERWC or AP English 12 class this year? Then have we got an opportunity for you! Bakersfield College will be offering a concurrent enrollment English B1A course at West High on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:10-5:35 pm, beginning August 27. This is a GREAT opportunity to get one of your main college graduation requirements out of the way! Contact your counselor for more info!


  • Calling All Driller artists out there! Nutrition Services is looking for talented artists to submit artwork for a district art competition. Prizes include $100 cash and a commemorative t-shirt.  Plus if you are selected as the grand prize winner your artwork will be featured in Poppy Seeds magazine.  If interested please ask for Mrs. Scott in the cafeteria for more information.
