New Business:

Prom is right around the corner! If you are interested in designing and making your own prom dress, please see Mrs. Claborn to sign up! Space is limited to 25 students and you DO NOT have to be in fashion to sign up.

 

Seniors: FAFSA and Dream Act applications are due on March 2. Stop by the career center to pick up information.

 

Anyone interested in trying out for our Driller Cheer team please pick up a packet in the SAB. Please have ALL documents completed and turned into the Advisor Chynna Rodgers by March 15th.

 

It's a bird! It's a plane! No wait, it's FUN FEST!!! That's right Drillers, it's time for our annual Fun Fest carnival to support our friends from the special needs classes of BCSD. This year's Fun Fest theme is superheroes! Be someone's hero by signing up to be a Fun Fest buddy. Pick up a permission slip in the SAB. Slips are due back by Friday, March 9th in order to participate. If you wish to be part of a Fun Fest booth, please see your coach or club advisor.

 

Anyone interested in trying out for our BHS Driller Cheer squad can pick up a packet located in the SAB and have at least a 2.0 for 3rd QTR grades. Packet must be completely filled out and returned to the SAB by March 14th. For any questions please see the advisor Chynna Rodgers.

 

Seniors--Grad Nite packets are now available in the SAB! Early bird tickets will be on sale for $95 each for two days only--March 1st & 2nd during 5th lunch in front of the cafeteria. Tickets are cash only and non-refundable. If you wish to bring a guest, your guest will also need the same permission slip packet. You must buy your tickets at the same time as the friends you wish to sit with on the bus. Tickets will be on sale again May 1, 2, and 3 for $110 so buy early for a $15 savings!

 

Calling all Drillers! The spring Blood Drive will be held on Monday, March 12th all day in the SAB. If you are at least 16 years old and would like to donate, pick up a permission slip packet in the SAB. Each donation saves three lives! Let's give back to our community Drillers and donate blood for a good cause!

 

OLD NEWS:

Drillers--the yearbook is currently on sale in the Finance Office for $85! Pre-order your copy of the 2017-2018 yearbook now before they sell out! Prices go up again on April 1st.

BHS Memorial Scholarships such as Clarice Dollar, Patricia Morones, Stephen Wages, and Jason Ariey applications are available in the Career Center.

 

Driller to Driller Foundation Scholarships such as the Nick Gilmer Memorial, Gary Van Horne Memorial, and the Perseverance Award Scholarship for foster youth. Please pick up applications in the career center.

 

Kern High School District has many scholarships such as W.E. Drury, McGregor Music, Nelson, Dale Scott & Co., Thelma Rae Music, and the Juan Arrache Memorial essay scholarship are all available in the career center.

 

Officer David Nelson Memorial Scholarship is available. Seniors that demonstrate effort in academics, community, and athletics. Pick up an application in career center.

 

Harvey and Laura Brockmeyer Kiwanis Scholarship being offered for future farmer chapter, key club or child/grandchild of a Kern County Kiwanian. Pick up app in career center.

 

Boys and Girls Club and PG&E is offering a summer job program for students. Please pick up an application from Mrs. Sanchez in the career center.

 

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. is offering a Book Scholarship to eligible African American Senior students. Students planning on attending a college/university or military program. Pick up app in Career Center.

Kern County Science Foundation Scholarship is available to seniors with 3.5GPA, participated in at least one Kern County Science Fair. Pick up app in Career Center.

India Association of San Joaquin Valley is offering scholarships for seniors of Indian Origin. Pick up application in Career Center

College Dream Fund Scholarship for seniors with 2.0 GPA, financial need, attending community college or university. Pick up flyer in Career Center.

California Chapter Women in Mining Scholarship is available to seniors pursuing mineral education and the mining industry. Pick up app in Career Center

Alpha Delta Kappa-Theta Chapter for Senior Girls ONLY. Girls who have outstanding citizenship, community service, and academics apply for this Juliet Thorner Award. Pick up application in Career Center.

 

Italian Catholic Federation Scholarship is open to students of Italian descent, Roman Catholic parent/grandparent is member of Italian Catholic Federation. Pick up app in Career Center.

Kern Medical Center is looking for volunteers. Must be at least 14 years old. Pick up an information flyer in Career Center.

Kern Community Foundation Scholarship is available online. One application for applying to multiple scholarships. Visit website! January 1-March 2nd!
