  • Adventist Health of Bakersfield is seeking volunteers for their Junior Volunteer Program. Must be 15 years old or older, 3.0 GPA or higher. Pick up application from Ms. Sanchez in Career Center.
  • The drama club is holding a meeting on Wednesday the 19th after school in Auditorium 101. Stop by if you want to become more involved with theater at BHS, anyone can come by.
  • The Bakersfield college improv team will be collaborating with the drama club here at BHS to do an improv workshop every Monday for eight weeks starting Monday, the 24th from 3:00 to 4:30 in auditorium 101. To participate you must bring five dollars to the workshop on Monday. If you have any questions please stop by auditorium 101 and talk to Mrs. Brandon.
  • Attention Seniors--Mr. and Miss BHS applications are now available in the SAB. You must have at least a 3.0 GPA to apply.  Applications are due back to the SAB by Friday, Sept. 21st at 12:30pm. 
  • Attention ALL Varsity, JV and Frosh Soph Football Players: Please pick up your football photos in the SAB during lunch, passing periods, or before and after school.


  • ASB Stickers are on sale now in the finance office! New this year, ASB stickers will get you in FREE to all athletic events (except playoffs). ASB Stickers are only $20 – AND YOU GET IN FREE!  That’s right, FREE!  Please have your student ID card when you come to the finance office.
  • Cal-SOAP Rep Mrs. Layne is located in IT-103 for assistance with college applications, financial aid, or any questions or concerns with future goals.
  • Great news, Drillers! You can now submit requests to see your counselor electronically! Simply go to the BHS website and click on Counselors in the Counseling tab. The link to your counselor’s electronic form is under their name. Click, complete, and send! It’s as easy as that! We hope to eventually save some trees and do away with the paper forms. The electronic version is not only environmentally friendly, but much quicker.
  • Breakfast and Lunch are free to all students and you are also able to buy a second meal if needed. We have our after school snack and dinner program that is free to all students staying for an after school activity. We also have new menu items this year that we think you will enjoy!
  • In need of community service hours? Want to give back to the community? Volunteering just got easier!!! The Burrito Project is a non-profit organization in Bakersfield that makes burritos for homeless people. (Just show up, no need to call ahead! your first day will be orientation.)   • Juniors and Seniors: Do you like helping people? Would you like to make a big difference in someone’s life? Interested in education as a career? Join the I-TEACH class! We will be learning all about what it takes to be a teacher, we will tutor our own BHS students, and we will also tutor in an elementary school. Talk to your counselor about adding this class. You will be SO GLAD you did.
  • After School Tutoring has begun in our new Tutoring Center, located in the library. Tutoring begins at 3 and ends at 4. We have English and Math tutoring Monday through Thursday, Science tutoring every Tuesday and Thursday, and Foreign Language tutoring every Thursday. The library will also be open until 5pm Monday through Thursday for a quiet place to study. Hope to see you there!
  • Sports packets are now available for Winter Sports which include Girls and Boys Basketball, Soccer and Wrestling. If you are currently practicing your sports packet with a current physical dated after May 15, 2018 needs to be on file with Mrs. Chaidez in the Student Activity Building (SAB). If you plan to participate official conditioning for Winter Sports will be October 15. Practice begins October 29. All current fall athletes interested in participating in Winter Sports please pick up a packet. Get your packets in EARLY!!
  • Interested in playing Video games for BHS?  Games like League of Legends or even Fortnite?  Then we want you to join the BHS E-sports team! If you missed the meeting last week just stop by and talk to Mr. Mathis in the IT building room 220, or Science building Room 3.
  • Are you a talented artist? Would you like to have your art featured in the school newspaper, the Blue and White? The Blue and White is looking for the next "Artist of the Issue." Stop by Mr. Espain's room, WH116, for a brief interview.
