Welcome all of our new incoming freshmen!  If you were unable to attend our virtual orientation on April 12th, please click on the link in red above to view our presentation from Monday evening's event.  Registration has begun and all details on how to register your student are listed step-by-step below. In addition, please scroll further down on this page and take some time to preview our various elective programs by clicking on the links in the "Electives and More" table below. Our ultimate goal is to get you connected to the programs you enjoy most!

INCOMING FRESHMEN REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

 

STEP 1: Register your student. There are two options to register either by 1) submitting online registration using the links in red below or by 2) filling out a paper copy of the registration packet (see pdf files below).

Click on either of the documents below to download and print a registration packet.  Registration packets can be picked up and dropped off in front of the BHS main office, Monday-Friday, between the hours of 7:30am-3:30pm.

 

 

 

STEP 2: To enroll your student, you will be asked to provide ONE COPY of each of the following:

  •     PARENTS/GUARDIANS, YOU MUST PROVIDE A COPY OF YOUR PHOTO ID TO ENROLL YOUR STUDENT—NO EXCEPTIONS
  •     Current PG&E, So Cal Gas, or water bill (in Parent/Guardian(s) name) for proof of residence*
  •     Student’s Immunization records, including TDap (TB Test also REQUIRED when entering from outside state/country)
  •     Student’s Birth Certificate
  •     Student’s Previous School Transcript and/or Last Report Card
  •     If applicable, legal custody/guardianship documents
 
*RESIDENCE REQUIREMENT: In order to be compliant with KHSD guidelines, proof of residence will be required in order to register for Bakersfield High School.  Without this verification, your student’s registration will be delayed until we receive the needed information. If you have any questions or concerns, please call 661-324-9841.*

 

 

STEP 3: Drop off your completed Registration Packet. Once your registration packet has been filled out and you have copies of all required documentation listed above, place all of your registration paperwork in an envelope labeled with your student's first and last name. Please drop off your completed registration packet in front of the BHS Main Office between the hours of 7:30am-3:30pm, Monday-Friday.

 

We will also have two days of on-campus registration on April 21st and 22nd from 3:00-6:00pm if you would like to turn in your completed packet at that time. BHS personnel will be on hand to make copies of necessary registration documents if needed.

 

 

STEP 4: Fill out the Freshmen Interest Survey to select your top three choices for elective courses. Our counselors will use this form to develop your student's class schedue for the 2021-22 school year. Summer school sign-ups are also included on this form.  Please check out the "Electives and More" section below and click on the program links to find out more about each elective before you complete the form.  Be sure to fill out any additional applications if required.

“FRESHMEN FIESTA” DRIVE-THROUGH EVENT!


Don't miss our upcoming Freshmen drive-through event on May 5th from 2-5pm!  All incoming freshmen who have completed their registration in full by APRIL 30TH will receive a FREE Driller Freshman Swag Bag with all kinds of Driller merchandise during this event!


*FRESHMEN ID PHOTOS will be taken of all incoming students at no charge during our drive-through event.

*SUMMER ORIENTATION DAY!  Save the date ~ Tuesday, August 10th, 2021 for our summer orientation day for all incoming freshmen.  Although plans are still tentative, we do hope to host an on-campus orientation sponsored by BHS Link Crew, including a freshmen rally, campus tours, and distribution of preliminary schedules.  Additional details will be included in our summer mailer coming in June!

ELECTIVES & MORE!!!
 
BHS has so much to offer!  With the most elective course offerings in the district, we encourage all incoming freshmen and parents to take a look at each of our elective programs below before making your choice.  Each program offers a unique experience for students and in various areas of interest that provide something for everyone!

BHS ATHLETICS INFO
 
***PLEASE NOTE: Incoming freshmen must be enrolled before they can begin the process of getting "cleared" to participate in athletics. 
 
BHS is home to an incredible athletics program!  We encourage all incoming freshmen to choose a sport that interests them and get more involved! 
 
In order to participate in high school athletics, incoming freshmen must obtain a physical from a doctor dated after June 1st.  After you have enrolled at Bakersfield High School and completed your physical, you must then create an online Sportsnet account where you will upload your completed physical form.  Once you are cleared by the BHS Athletics office, and both your Sportsnet account and completed physical are confirmed, you can being practice.  Sportsnet Sign-up instructions and the physical form are included below.  Contact the coach for specific information about practice schedules.
